As we hopefully head into a hot summer we need to consider the heat inside the car.
With the air conditioning on or windows open we might feel comfortable with the temperature.
Once all the windows are shut and the air conditioning is switched off the temperature will rise very quickly in the car. Children, animals and certain products do not do well in high temperatures. So think about what you have in the car and how to keep the temperature down.
Never leave aerosols (deodorants, hairspray, paint), vapes/e-cigarettes, lighters, and power banks in a hot car as they can explode due to pressure. Heat also ruins medication, sun cream, plastic water bottles (bleaching chemicals), electronics, and chocolates. Always remember pets and children.
Any other tips or trends?
Find a sheltered parking bay and consider where the sun is going to stay in the shadows. Underground parking can be useful on a hot day. Put items in the boot away from direct sunlight and carry water with you so you don’t get dehydrated. Other things you can do is to tint the windows to limit the level of Ultra Violet light coming into the car, (there is legislation on the amount of tint you can use on certain windows, so consult with window tinting specialists.
